BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

The best-licensed vendor for skylight washing in commercial buildings is C&C Paint and Pressure Wash.

As a commercial building owner, you have many skills. However, having your commercial building skylight washing done “the right way” may not be on your skills list.

Keeping your building’s skylights looking new can drastically improve the quality of the look of your property. It also keeps your property looking nice, which is particularly important if you have tenants over or hope to sell. When you hire our professionals to do professional work on your property, here is what you should expect from the C&C Paint and Pressure Wash team or any other firm.

Step 1: We Start with a Consultation

Before our professional commercial building skylight washing team arrives at your building, they want to know what to expect. We need to clearly understand how big a job they’re committing to so that we can plan their schedule accordingly. A preliminary meeting helps them honor the timeline and price they quote you. We may do this with a phone call, a Zoom chat, and a virtual visit using Google Maps to look at your property.

Step 2: A Planning Visit

There’s a difference between discussing a job and seeing what your building needs up close. We start each job with a visit to the property in question. One reason is to see what safety precautions the cleaning team needs to take. We look at the work area’s construction materials for defects, adjacent plants, and nearby structures, plus we confirm the number of people needed for the job.

We’ll identify any items beyond the scope of our standard work that you may want to correct yourself or have us or another vendor correct before, during, or after our work project. This visit gives the team a clear idea of the tools needed to do the job properly and meet our and the client’s expectations.

Step 3: Work Day Arrival

Before beginning their workday, our team will ensure that the property owner has moved or removed anything that might get in the way of our work or cause damage. We will then cover or otherwise protect any plants or non-movable items in the exposed work area.

Step 4: Repair or Replace Pre-authorized Items

We will repair or replace any items identified and authorized by the property owner during the planning visit or at another time.

Step 5: Perform All Cleaning Processes

Now, we will clean the work area with our professional equipment, ensuring no dirt or organic material is left when we’re done.

Step 6: Inspect and Reclean as Needed

Now that we’ve finished our first cleaning, we will closely inspect our work and re-clean any areas that require additional cleaning.

Step 7: Final Inspection

Once the area is fully cleaned, our technicians conduct a final check on the structure. The team inspects each area to look for still-dirty areas they missed.

Wow -- Jerry Crabb did an *incredible* job on our 3-car garage driveway! I never thought that I'd be actually relieved that my dinky DIY power washer broke down. Calling in an expert like Jerry was a great choice. Turns out I have some other house "things" on my list --and my first call now will be to C&C. Call them -- I'm so glad that that's what I did!

Jerry and crew are fantastic! I had them softwash my roof and pool enclosure last year. Called them back this year to clean my pool enclosure again, along with my driveway/sidewalks, and clean and seal the pavers on my back porch and around my pool. Told me what they were going to do, and when they would be here. Everything went off without a hitch. Will do business with them again.

Timely, friendly, and great quality work! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get some pressure washing done. Really good at communicating and got scheduled quick. Our house is 72 years old and hasn't been cleaned in quite some time, but it was no problem for them! They even explained the whole process to me so I knew exactly what was going on.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING – FAQs

Your building’s skylights should be thoroughly cleaned inside and outside, typically once or twice per year. In this amount of time, they will have gathered a lot of dirt, dust, and spiderwebs that you’ll want to get rid of. Besides, your building’s skylights should be inspected at least once per year, regardless of whether you see any issues.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

Typically, a building’s skylight will last between eight and 15 years. However, with advancements in technology, some skylights can last between 20 to 30 years!

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

  • The most common problem with skylights is leaks. Skylight leaks happen for three reasons: improper installation, problems with the roof flashing, and waiting too long for a skylight replacement.
  • Condensation forms on a skylight and gives it the appearance of a leak. Condensation forms on a skylight when the warm air rises in your home and meets the cooler glass. This can lead to mold or mildew around the framing, peeling or bubbling paint on surrounding surfaces, or water dripping down on valuables.
  • Skylights increase UV rays, which can harm and dull colors on furniture, carpets, and any other cloth objects. Skylights also add heat in the summer and lead to heat loss in the winter, resulting in poor energy efficiency, which leads to your AC or heating unit working more.

Tie a dry rag to the end of a pole or extension rod. Put water in a bucket with ¼ to ½ cup of white vinegar added to the bucket. Wear goggles. Clean with a dry rag first to gently sweep away cobwebs and excess dust. Finish with a clean wet rag. Go over it repeatedly until clean.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

Throughout four seasons, your building’s skylights can become very dirty. In the fall and winter seasons, leaves, sap, and debris fall on your building’s skylights. In the spring and summer, pollen and rain bring more sticky debris to your building’s skylight glass.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

Cleaning your building’s skylights on the outside can be dangerous, which we why we recommend hiring a professional services firm like C&C Paint and Presure Wash. If you want to give it a go, climb a ladder and wipe away any dust and debris on the skylight with the dry rag. Next, use a soapy sponge to remove dirt and grime from the skylight. Wipe thoroughly side-to-side and then top-to-bottom. Rinse with clean water. Dry with clean rags.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

The average building’s skylight will last between eight and 15 years. However, with advancements in technology, some skylights can last up to between 20 to 30 years! There are a lot of contributing factors when it comes to how long your skylight will last.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

The best solution is to install vents below windows to help warm the interior glass. Keep the interior humidity low to reduce indoor moisture. Turn on any stove fan when cooking to reduce the moisture in the air. Run your ceiling fans to keep warm air from rising to the ceiling to help prevent condensation on roof windows and skylights.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

In order to prevent condensation from collecting and raining back down into your building, skylights are outfitted with “weep holes.” These are the small openings along the side that allow condensation to drain out onto the roof. If these weep holes are obstructed, condensed water has nowhere to go but down into your structure.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING SKYLIGHT WASHING

There are several excellent reasons why a building’s skylight replacement is the smart choice when re-roofing. Most reputable roofers recommend replacing skylights when replacing your roof because damage to the skylight, flashing, or framing often occurs when the old roofing is removed. There may be water damage around the skylight if the flashing degrades and leaks occur.
